Performing Arts Update!

Music

Students are continuing to work on our ensemble piece “Going Home.” Each group has their own part, with four parts playing at once! F–2 students are building their rhythm and drum beats, while Years 3–5 are developing the bass, harmony and melody parts. Fantastic progress everyone! Pop Wednesday 1st April in the calendar for an end of Term Performance before our Redgum Festival debut in the holidays, time TBC.

Dance

We’re having lots of fun exploring movement through AusDance Victoria’s Activate Dance cards. Students love taking turns choosing the card each week, discovering new ways to move and collaborate together.

Drama

F–2

It’s been wonderful welcoming our Foundation students back into the Performing Arts room! We’ve explored storybook drama and kindness through Rose Meets Mr Wintergarten by Bob Graham and have now started a Nursery Rhyme Puppet Unit.

Years 3–5

Students are continuing to explore creativity, ideas and imagination through storybook drama based on The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan.

Choir

Choir members recently spent time one-on-one with Mrs Huf working on matching pitch using the keyboard. We also explored vocal range and arranged the choir into soprano and alto groups. Harmony singing is just around the corner and it’s going to sound amazing!

"The Dish Kids" School Band

Our new Wednesday lunchtime band has kicked off with great enthusiasm! Students shared favourite songs and instruments in week one, and this week enjoyed a jam session to Macarena by Los Del Rio. With keyboards, marimbas, drums, percussion and even a few dancers, it’s a fun, student-driven music session open to anyone keen to join in.

Exciting news! The Eisteddfod is running its first ever film competition this year with the theme WATER. Primary students can create and submit their own short film (even using iMovie). Films must be original work, rated G, and not created with AI assistance.
