Notes from the Principal

Athletics Sessions
This week we concluded our Athletics Coaching sessions with Jason Thomas and Will Barber. We were able to provide these sessions to students thanks to a Sporting Schools Grant. We have also used this grant to pay for new hurdles, mats and discus.
Jason and Will took the students through all aspects of athletics. This will help prepare our Year 3-5 students for the upcoming SGSSA Athletics at the end of term. The original date for this is Tuesday 24 March at Mitchell Park. This MAY BE postponed to Tuesday 31 March due to the possibility of Stop Work Action.
District Swimming
Ivy returned full of excitement after competing at the District Swimming in Warrnambool on Friday 6th February. She managed to improve her personal best time in freestyle by one second and shaved off a massive five seconds from her personal best in backstroke. We congratulate Ivy for her efforts. We are very proud of her and thank her for being a positive representative of our school.
Clean Up Australia Day
Last Friday 27th February all students and staff participated in Clean Up Australia Day as a way of making a positive contribution to our local community. We cleaned up our school grounds, as well as along Barker Street, around the Public Toilets area and both parks. We also walked along Cameron Street and picked up rubbish.
The students and I were pleasantly surprised at how little rubbish there was to collect - Cavendish is a tidy town!
School Council
Our School Council AGM is planned for 7pm Wednesday 25th March. All current members are to attend and any new nominations. There is currently 1 vacant parent member position we can fill. School Council is a great way to get to know other members of our school community and make a positive contribution to your child’s education.
Concession Card Holders
If you currently hold a concession card, please contact Tammy in the office to apply for the Camps, Sports & Excursion Funding for your child/children.
Shelter in Place works at school
School has been a hive of activity over the past fortnight. Vegetation has been removed, and roof works are underway. We also have new boards along the base of our building.
Rewards Trees
This week we had a “blitz” on our School Value – UNITY. I asked all staff to keep an eye out for any students demonstrating this value. We have quite a few students earn a “leaf” this week. Congratulations to you all.
