Hello from 2R

2R have been enjoying a wonderful start to Term 1. We have read two Indigenous-inspired books, The First Scientists and The Shop Train, and used these texts to explore different types of writing. Through these stories, students have also been learning about how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples lived, used their knowledge of the land, and developed clever ways to survive and care for their environment. 

In Mathematics, students have been learning about place value and exploring numbers using MAB blocks. They had lots of fun creating their own MAB Monsters, using ones, tens and hundreds to build imaginative creatures while practising their understanding of how numbers are made. We are now learning all about time. Students have been exploring the days of the week, months of the year and the four seasons. We have discussed how calendars help us organise time and have practised sequencing days and months. 

We also had a fantastic time at our Little Legends excursion at EMC. Students participated in a range of fun sporting activities and showed great enthusiasm throughout the session. Lots of fun was had by everyone!

Students are looking forward to the Easter Bonnet Parade, as well as going swimming at the beginning of Term 2.
