Grade 1 & 2
Term 1 - Week 6
Term 1 has certainly been quite busy with lots of learning and activities throughout.
In Week 3 our children participated in the Stomp program. They learnt and enjoyed lots of dance moves.

In Week 4 we began Lent and our journey to Easter. We began with Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Tuesday. The name comes from the word "shrive," meaning to confess and be forgiven for one's mistakes, preparing people for the serious time of prayer ahead. It is the final day of celebration before the Christian season of Lent begins.
On Ash Wednesday, our Grade 1/2 students were part of an Ash Wednesday Liturgy and received ashes on their foreheads with the words, ‘Turn your heart to God and follow Jesus’. Over the next 40 days to prepare for the season of Easter, the children are reminded to live in ‘Right-judgement’ with God and each other.

During Inquiry, we have been learning about each person having a special superpower that makes them unique. We recognise that each person has special gifts and talents and when we share these “superpowers” we make our world a better place. We work together and help each other- as ‘Birds of a Feather Flock Together.’ The children then made their birds displaying their special superpowers.

It has been an amazing four weeks and we look forward to our next four weeks and the exciting activities ahead of us, including our journey through Lent to the Easter season.
