Specialists

What's happening in specialist subjects?

Congratulations to Essie!

Essie has had great success this year in running events at District, Division and Region Athletics. At the recent Region Athletics, she came second in the 10-year-old girls 1500m with a time of 5 minutes and 59.64 seconds (5:59.64). This qualifies her for the State Athletics on 5 November. Congratulations Essie! We wish her well and hope she will be rewarded for the hard training work she has done with her family throughout the year.

PE Term 4

This term we began PE carrying over our orienteering program with the 1/2/3 and 4/5/6 classes running an orienteering course around the school. Orienteering is based on map skills and speed, with students navigating to checkpoints, which are marked off on a card, and getting through the course as quickly as possible.

The remainder  of term 4 will focus on tee ball for the younger students and softball for the 4/5/6 class. They will learn batting skills, fielding and the rules of the game. After the tee ball and softball program, students will learn, develop and improve their jump rope skills (skipping), including individual and shared games.

French

Grade 4-5-6 finished off their Term 3 French Chemistry work with an experiment exploring liquids with different densities, to make a liquid rainbow! They followed instructions, made predictions and recorded the results with sentences and labelled diagrams - all in French. Bravo!

Le (petit) Théâtre-Français - 4-5-6 will be getting dramatic as they each take on a role in a mini French play!

All classes will finish the term with a celebration of le Noël (Christmas).

Art Term 4

Term 4 began with students completing their Farm Art Competition pieces for the Lancefield Agricultural Show. Every student from foundation to year 6 entered artwork, and they will all be on display at the Lancefield Agricultural Show, this Sunday 18 October.

The focus for the remainder of term 4 will be based on our Integrated Curriculum topic of  Media Arts. The F/1 class  are learning how messages can be conveyed through use and choice of different media. They will create a 3D model of a 'rescue pet' set against a background using different media, which will be made into a short iMovie on their iPads. The 1/2/3 class will be designing through sketches and detailed drawings, and then creating 3D robots. They will also be designing a logo for an advertising campaign for their robots. Finally, the 4/5/6 class are learning how images can be created, presented and manipulated for mis/disinformation and to influence the viewer through AI, photo enhancement and layout. They will be analysing and exploring how these images impact audiences. They will create 2D and 3D works to support the activities they do in class on this topic.
