CSPS RUNS AROUND THE OVAL, AROUND THE PARK AND AROUND THE WORLD!
It has been a big few weeks of running both within and beyond CSPS. A special mention to our super-fit Principal, Mr Cooper, who recently achieved a personal best at the Ballarat Marathon. An outstanding effort and a great example of what can be achieved through many incredibly early morning runs before busy days at school. Congratulations, Mr Cooper!
At school, our Year 3-6 students gave their all in the House Cross Country, demonstrating determination and fantastic sportsmanship. It was particularly pleasing to hear of students achieving their personal goal of running the entire course, often supported by training with Mum and/or Dad in the weeks prior to the event. For some, this resulted in a top 8 finish and progression to the District Cross Country on May 15. Congratulations and good luck to all!
A big thank you must go to all our CSPS staff for their support in delivering a fantastic House Cross Country. A big thank you to Mr Briggs and Mr Higgins who covered an extraordinary 19km and 15km respectively. Their efforts in encouraging all students helped make the day such a positive experience for all.
We were also grateful to have Roger Weinstein (grandparent of Jonah in Prep) as our guest starter once again. Roger shared his experiences as a ‘Legend’ of the Melbourne Marathon Spartans Club by bringing along a number of his running singlets and giving students a great insight into the history of the Melbourne Marathon Spartans.
Our younger students were just as impressive, with Prep-Year 2 students taking part in their Mini Cross Country last Friday. It was wonderful to see their incredible enthusiasm and energy. A big thank you and well done to our parents who joined in the fun.
We also had students representing the CSPS community internationally, with Ivana and Maddox S competing in a 5km event in France as part of the Paris Marathon. An incredible experience on the world stage.
Furthermore, it was fantastic to hear that former CSPS parent Paul Greig (father of School Captain, Olive – Class of 2023) complete the London Marathon in an outstanding time of 2:31, finishing 238th overall out of more than 58,000 runners - an extraordinary performance!
Looking ahead, entries for the 2XU Wellness Run open on May 28. This is an annual event that many of our students, staff and families have proudly participated in over recent years, and we encourage anyone interested to consider getting involved.
These experiences highlight the importance of staying active, not only for physical health, but for mental health and overall wellbeing. We encourage all students to keep moving, challenge themselves and look for opportunities to be active.
Well done to everyone involved, keep up the great work and keep moving!
