School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) at CSPS

We are pleased to inform the school community that we are currently working with Andrew Cowen from the Department of Education. Andrew is the School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Team Leader from the South-Eastern Victoria Region and part of the Wellbeing and Engagement Branch. Andrew is currently helping us update our Student Behaviour Flow Chart.
A School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Behaviour Response Flow Chart helps everyone in the school respond to behaviour in a calm, fair and consistent way.
In simple terms, it aims to:
• Make expectations clear for everyone Students know what is expected of them, and what will happen if they need support to get back on track.
• Ensure fairness and consistency All staff respond in similar ways, so children experience predictable and fair treatment across the school.
• Focus on teaching positive behaviour Instead of just reacting to mistakes, staff help students learn the right behaviours through reminders, guidance, and encouragement.
• Support students early Small issues are addressed quickly and calmly, helping prevent them from becoming bigger problems.
• Provide the right level of support More serious behaviours are managed appropriately, with extra support when needed.
• Help children feel safe and supported Clear and consistent responses create a stable environment where students can focus on learning.
• Strengthen communication with families Consistent processes make it easier to share clear, accurate information with parents and carers.
Overall, the flow chart helps create a positive, supportive school environment where every child is guided to make good choices and feel successful.
Alongside supporting the development of our Behaviour Response Flow Chart, Andrew Cowen will also deliver professional learning sessions for staff to further strengthen their knowledge, skills and practical application of the SWPBS framework.
