Principal's Perspective

Year 5 Camp
A big thank you to our year five staff, Jane Endersby, Anna Mitrovic, Laveena Kukanesan and our assistant principal Rhian ap Rees for supporting our year five students on camp this week. While the campers faced some challenging weather conditions, everyone had a great time and made the most of the camp experiences.
A big thank you to our parent helpers Charles Hunt, James McDonnell and John Collins for giving up their time to ensure that our camp could proceed. We are very grateful for their contributions and assistance over the past three days. We look forward to hearing stories from our campers about their experiences.
Parents’ Association
Many thanks to our Parents’ Association for their wonderful Mother’s Day lunch that took place on Thursday. It was a very well attended event and a lovely opportunity for mums to take a moment out of their busy schedules, enjoy some time together and celebrate all the wonderful things about being a mum. A very big thank you for Elysia Grant and Eliza Chapman for organising the day and making it all happen. Special thanks to the sponsors for providing such wonderful gifts and support. Please have a read of the PA page and see some of the photos.
We have a wonderful Parents’ Association who contribute greatly to our community for our families and students. The moonlight cinema was another great event and we had wonderful weather. Thak you to all of the families who attended this event and supported our school with this fundraising initiative.
Please have a read about the upcoming colour run as our next fundraiser on the PA page.
AEU and DE negotiations
The Department of Education and the AEU are still working through the negotiations towards a new agreement.
As part of the negotiations, the “AEU Branch Executive made the decision to suspend the commencement of rolling regional half-day stoppages of work for the period through to 18 May to enable the continuation of intensive negotiations over the next two weeks to maximise the best chance for an in-principle agreement to be reached. All other existing industrial action will remain in place”. (AEU email to members)
I will provide families with more information about proposed industrial action as it becomes available.
Happy Mother’s Day
To all of the mothers, we thank you for your dedication, care, love and support that you provide to your children. We also want to thank and celebrate the mums, grandmothers, aunties and other special women who contribute by being role models, carers and inspirational women for our children.
We hope that you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
Warm regards,
Travis
