A Wonderful Start to the Year! – Lead the Way

What an incredible start to the year we’ve had here at Kingswood Primary! It’s hard to believe we’re already surpassing last year’s momentum, but it’s true. With settled children, a targeted approach to learning and a strong start right at 9:00am, the positive impact is clear—students are already engaged and learning is in full swing.

Prep Students – A Confident and Inclusive Start! – Thrive in a team Culture

Our Preps this year are particularly special. As the first group of students affected by COVID disruptions, it’s remarkable to see how well they’ve hit the ground running. The teachers have been blown away by their confidence and presence in the classroom. I had the pleasure of watching them interact on the playground and I was deeply impressed by their inclusivity and kindness towards one another. I have no doubt this group is going to have a fantastic year!

Uniforms – Thriving in Team Culture

As communicated last year, we are continuing to emphasise the importance of wearing the correct uniform. All families are supported this year by the generous $400 student support package. We also had input from students, staff and parents last year during Term 3 and 4 to refine the uniform, which was then approved by the School Council.

While the updated uniform is now the standard, older pieces are still acceptable. However, if your child is wearing an item that is non-uniform or has outgrown their clothes, you may hear from your child’s teacher. We understand there have been delays in some orders from PSW due to the sheer volume of Kingswood orders and they are working hard to get these items to you as soon as possible.

For any questions, please refer to our Uniform Policy on the school website. Families needing additional financial support are encouraged to reach out to the school.

Ambulance Cover – Important Reminder- We are here for the Students

A reminder for all parents and guardians: the Department of Education does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. If you do not have ambulance cover or accident insurance, you are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment and ambulance transport in case of injury. Please ensure your family is covered for these potential costs.

School Council Nominations for 2025 – Get Involved! – Connected to Community

School Council plays a vital role in shaping the direction of our school. If you’re interested in being part of the governance team for Kingswood Primary, I encourage you to consider nominating for one of the available positions. There are several vacancies for 2025, and your involvement would be greatly appreciated.

Meet School Leadership – ‘Drinks on the Green’ – Connected to Community

We’d love to see you at our ‘Drinks on the Green’ event on Tuesday, 18th February, from 5pm to 6.15pm near the admin building. This will be an opportunity to meet the school leadership team and other parents in a relaxed and social setting. Please note, this is an adults-only event, as alcohol will be served. We hope you can join us!

The February School Council meeting will follow this event.

Sharon Lomas Heading to the Galápagos Islands – Lead the Way

Our Assistant Principal, Sharon Lomas, is heading off on a well-deserved adventure to the Galápagos Islands. While she is away, Bradley Stringer will step into the role of Acting Assistant Principal for two weeks. I have full confidence that Brad will do an excellent job, and we look forward to hearing all about Sharon’s trip when she returns, recharged and ready to share her amazing experiences!

Wellbeing Dogs – Hana is Settling In – Connected to Community

We are excited to share that Hana, our wellbeing dog (who is also my dog), has started spending time at school and is settling in wonderfully. I'm gradually teaching her to be more comfortable in the school environment, particularly with being left in the office while I work around the school.

For those with allergies, rest assured that both Hana and Leo (our other wellbeing dog) have hypoallergenic coats, are up to date with vaccinations and have had their flea and worm treatments. Health records for both dogs are available at the front office if needed. Hana has quickly become excited about coming to school, every time I mention "school," she races through the house to sit at the front door, ready to go!

Thank you for being such an important part of the Kingswood Primary community. We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with all of you and your children.
