Student Engagement at Corpus Christi 2026

From the Prep Classroom

In Wellbeing, Prep students are discovering how to make fair and responsible choices every day.

We read the stories "Horton Hatches the Egg" and "The Lion and the Mouse," which helped us explore how characters demonstrate responsibility, fairness, kindness, and trust through their actions. We loved creating masks and engaging in role-play to show these important values.

We discussed what fairness looks like in the classroom and on the playground, including taking turns, including others in games, sharing equipment, and listening to different points of view. We talked about what it means to be responsible for our own belongings, our learning, our behaviour, and for caring for our classroom environment.

This week, our PBL focus was on learning to raise our hands, be ready to learn, do our best, and listen to the teacher and our friends. Although it's sometimes difficult, we are trying our best!

From the Year 5/6 Community

YEAR 5 - LEAD WELL / LIVE WELL

As part of the Year 5 students ‘Lead Well, Live Well’ Leadership Program, they have been developing a deeper understanding of effective teamwork and the important role it plays in learning and everyday interactions. Through group discussions, collaborative activities, and shared problem-solving tasks, students have explored the behaviours that help teams work successfully together, such as listening respectfully, sharing ideas, taking turns, encouraging others, and staying focused on a common goal.

Students have also reflected on behaviours that can make teamwork challenging and discussed strategies for creating positive and supportive group environments. Through this, students have worked collaboratively to identify and sort examples of effective and ineffective teamwork behaviours and contributed to developing a shared set of class team norms to support respectful and productive collaboration across the year.

YEAR 6 -  PREP / BUDDIES PROGRAM

Our Year 6 students have also continued building positive relationships with their Prep buddies through a range of friendship and inclusion activities. Together, students explored what fair and friendly play looks like in different playground games and discussed ways to help everyone feel included and valued. Through picture books, circle discussions, and buddy games, students reflected on behaviours that support kindness, patience, sharing, and respectful participation, as well as behaviours that can make others feel left out.

The Year 6 students demonstrated leadership and empathy as they supported their buddies to join in games fairly and confidently. To extend this learning, students participated in a “Wanted: A Good Friend” activity, identifying the qualities and actions that help create strong and respectful friendships within our school community.

The weekly PBL rule is drawn from our Behaviour Matrix. Each week our children focus on a whole school rule that meets our five school expectations

            This week’s PBL focus is:

                  We are LEARNERS

                    (Learning Time)

We are learning to raise our hands, be ready to learn, do our best, and listen to the teacher.
