Prep Excursion to Werribee Zoo

This term, the Year Preps are learning about our world, in particular, living things (plants and animals). The unit's learning intention is to understand that living things have different features.

On Monday, the Year Preps went on their excursion to Werribee Zoo. It provided the students with the opportunity to observe a wide variety of animals in environments that closely resemble their natural habitats. This deepened their understanding of how living things depend on specific conditions, such as food, shelter and climate, to survive.

It was great to see the Year Prep students engage so enthusiastically and thoughtfully with everything they saw at the zoo. There were many questions, and they learned a lot.

This week in class, they are writing recounts about their visit to the zoo. So far, they have created concept maps with pictures of four things they saw. They will then use the concept map to write a simple sentence or sentences that recount what they saw.
