St Mary's Shines!

New - St Mary's Shine on the National Stage
St Mary’s is incredibly proud of two of our students who recently competed in the GWM BMX Racing Nationals in Shepparton, representing both Shepparton BMX Club and our school with pride.
Oaklen Mott – A Strong Start in Sprockets
Oaklen Mott (Foundation) competed in the Sprockets division, taking on a large field of 30 riders. Racing at a national level is no small feat, and Oaklen rose to the challenge with determination and enthusiasm.
Across his four races, Oaklen delivered consistent performances, placing:
· 4th in three races
· 5th in one race
His effort, focus, and willingness to take on strong competition were fantastic to see, especially at such an early stage of his racing journey.
Axel Lawlor – Speed, Consistency and Personal Bests
Axel Lawlor (Year 6) competed in the highly competitive 12 Boys division, with an impressive 65 riders in his age group.
Axel rode three strong races, finishing: · 6th · 3rd · 6th
Even more impressively, Axel achieved personal best times in every heat, highlighting his improvement and commitment. His efforts saw him finish 43rd overall, a fantastic result at a national competition.
Both Oaklen and Axel demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, resilience, and dedication throughout the event. Competing at a national level requires courage and commitment, and both boys represented St Mary’s with pride.
We congratulate Oaklen and Axel on their fantastic achievements and look forward to following their continued success in BMX racing.
New - St Mary’s Cross Country – A Day of Effort, Pride and Team Spirit
Our recent St Mary’s Cross Country was a fantastic success, with students across all year levels demonstrating outstanding participation, determination, and school spirit.
It was wonderful to see our Grades 3–6 students represent the school so positively as they walked to the Mooroopna Recreation Reserve. The respect, responsibility, and pride they showed while travelling to and from the venue was a real credit to them and to our school community.
Out on the course, students gave their all, with many pushing themselves to achieve personal bests. The competitive races were exciting to watch, and the encouragement shown between students highlighted the strong sense of teamwork and sportsmanship at St Mary’s.
We were equally proud of our Prep–Grade 2 students, who displayed incredible courage and resilience during their races on the school oval. For many, this was their first Cross Country experience, and they approached the challenge with enthusiasm and determination.
Congratulations to all of our placegetters for their outstanding efforts on the day. A special mention also goes to Ryan House, who were crowned overall champions, taking out the House Shield with the highest number of points.
