Upper Primary (Years 5-6)
Upper Primary students have started Term 2 off well. On Friday in our classes, we commemorated Anzac Day by making biscuits and engaging in some craft activities. We have begun exploring our new Inquiry topic, rights and wrongs. Students will be practicing following rules and will demonstrate their learning when we attend the Jackson Farm later in the Term.
Lower Secondary (Years 7-8)
“Our Year 7/8 students returned from the holidays and jumped straight into an exciting adventure at Boomerang Horse Camp! Over three fun-filled days, students had a fantastic time riding beautiful horses, exploring the bush on night walks, building huts, learning how to make a fire, and developing their skills in archery. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build teamwork, and enjoy the outdoors. By the end of the camp, students were feeling tired but happy, and excited to return to school with great memories to share.”
Melbourne Airport Experience
Some of our students from Lower Secondary are interested to have a future career, working at the airport. Emirates along with Melbourne Airport were able to provide an amazing opportunity for these students! Jackson School was the first ever group to go an excursion like this, learning about the processes behind departing for and arriving from a flight!
We first walked through the domestic towards the international terminal, where we checked in for our flight with Emirates and got our boarding passes! We got to greet one of the working dogs along the way. Then, we went through customs and Border Security. Once we were through, we got to dine and relax at the Emirates lounge, getting front row seats looking at planes set off and land!
It was finally time to board our flight, so we went to our gate. Before we knew it, we had landed! It’s like we never took off (we only pretended for this part). The excursion continued and we learnt about declaring different items. We even got to watch and be part of the training of dogs for Border Security. We said goodbye to the friendly workers at Emirates and Melbourne airport, which was very sad! We didn’t want to leave!
