Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.
It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Caritas: Project Compassion
Holy Week (Week beginning Monday 30th March)
As we mark Holy Week, we reflect on another year of turning our faith and love into action through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. Throughout Lent, we’ve witnessed the power that our school community can generate when we come together as one, and heard four incredible stories of resilience and strength which offer a window into the kind of transformative impact we can achieve.
In Tanzania, Sisilia’s life was changed with access to nearby clean water. She can now spend more time studying so she can fulfil her dreams of one day becoming a pilot.
Monoranjon, from Bangladesh, learnt climate-resilient farming techniques, helping his family survive and build a safer, more sustainable future.
In rural Fiji, Manaini learnt food processing and gardening skills through Caritas Australia’s partner, FRIEND, creating more income opportunities to support her children’s education.
And in Gaza, Caritas Jerusalem staff remain committed to providing lifesaving support, standing in solidarity with families enduring this conflict.
What Are You Carrying? - Along the Track article
The latest edition of Along the Track entitled “What Are You Carrying?” is attached to today’s newsletter.
Some years ago, a retired principal told me that he had lived with a remark made by a teacher when he was in his mid-teens. “Are you as stupid as you look?” the teacher asked him one day in class. It may not sound much but to a self-conscious teenager it did mean a lot. He carried that hurt and the anger for a very long time. We can be very cruel to each other – sometimes what we say can be much more hurtful than any punishment imposed.
