Gospel Reading:
A Reading from the Gospel of Luke
Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
Jesus said to them in reply,
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way
they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!
And he told them this parable:
“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
he said to the gardener,
‘For three years now, I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but have found none. So cut it down.
Why should it exhaust the soil?’
He said to him in reply,
"Sir, leave it for this year also,
and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
it may bear fruit in the future.
If not, you can cut it down.”

Reflection:
The theme for Project Compassion this year is –
Help Changes Lives Today! Throughout Lent, we will be raising money to donate to Project Compassion. This will support families in need, and to build a future for generations to come.
Each classroom will have a Project Compassion Box where children can donate money. At our assembly on the 7th March, members of the Social Justice Leadership Team launched our school’s fundraising effort for this year.
Some ways children/families could donate if they wish:
· Children might ask Mum or Dad if they have any spare coins around home or in the
car that can be placed in our Project Compassion box.
· Children might like to donate a part of their pocket money to project compassion.
· Children might offer to do some extra jobs around home to earn some money that can be donated.
Every little bit helps!!
We are going to sell Zooper Doopers on Thursdays during Lent to raise money for Project Compassion. Zooper Doopers will be on sale at the start second break for $1.00 each.
