This week at Family Time, we are excited to celebrate two special occasions coming up in our community — Chinese New Year and the beginning of Ramadan. Families are warmly invited to join us for a fun and creative afternoon of themed crafts.
Together, we will be making:🏮 Paper lanterns🔗 Decorative paper chains that can either be turned into a dragon or used as a Ramadan countdown chain.
Everyone is welcome to get creative, add their own ideas, and create something special to take home and celebrate these meaningful events in your own way. We are expecting to have Family Time in the Specialist Building this week, where we will have lots more space to be creative with our activity. Meet us there from 3:15–4:15pm. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
For our new families, Family Time is a fun, relaxed way to meet other families and build connections within our community. Younger siblings are welcome to join in — just a couple of friendly reminders:
It was so lovely to finally start Family Time for 2026 last week. We had so much fun and I would just like to say thanks to the following:

As advertised last week, Miss Bridget is in desperate need of more volunteers to help share the load of providing lunch and snacks for our community, especially on Friday’s. Thank you to Susann, mum of Jack & Sam, for helping out last week.
Our canteen is open on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. The main tasks are helping to making lunches, packing class lunch boxes and serving students at the window. There is also some handling of cash. All volunteers will be trained by Miss Bridget or one of our experienced volunteers.
Volunteers will need to have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) card and complete a 5-minute Induction Session with me before starting in the canteen. I am also more than happy to help you obtain your WWCC card if you need help. Go to Working with Children Check to apply for your WWCC card.
If you are interested in helping on 1, 2, or all 3 days the canteen is open, please contact me via Kerry.parfett@education.vic.gov.au or call on 03 9306 9481.
Our Westbreen Community Playgroup will be returning to Team Westbreen but not until TERM 2. Look out for more information coming out about that in future newsletters. Alternatively, you are welcome to contact me for more information via email kerry.parfett@education.vic.gov.au.
