ITALIAN

DID YOU KNOW that Australia is around 26 times bigger than Italy - Just ask our Grade 1/2 students.  They actually cut out 26 maps of Italy and tried to fit them into a big map of Australia!!

Our Foundation students made Penne bracelets, they coloured them in red and green and threaded them onto a piece of string.

The 3/6 students are also showing their research skills and completing a project on their knowledge of Italy.

SPORT

We held our annual Swimming Sports event at the Stanhope pool and the weather God's turned it on for us. For the second year in a row, the Stanhope Primary School students joined us and helped make the day even more exciting. The 3-6 students competed in a variety of 25m and 50m strokes, and the noodle race was a real laugh! The F-2 students competed in fun races in the middle pool such as kickboard, freestyle, noodle, cork collect and sinkie races. The day concluded with 'free time' in all of the pools and heavy lids on the bus trip home. It was great to see how many family and friends came to show their support, and how enthusiastically all students participated.

Honourable mentions go to Mrs Stockdale who cheered herself hoarse on the microphone, Mrs Wooden who joined the juniors in the middle pool, and Emma who manned the First Aid tent. Thank you to Signora Gee and the Wellbeing Team who organised the entire event, and to all the staff who pitched in and made the day so successful and fun. St Pat's be our best!!

TENNIS

As part of our Sporting Schools funding, we have been lucky enough to secure our first tennis lesson with coach David Starling. The tennis program will go until the end of March and will focus on racquet control and Team Tennis match strategy.

The 3-6 students loved his fun energy and engagement - I think the smiles say it all!!

F-2 SPORT

FMS is now in full flight in the F-2 classes. We've been busily working on our 2-foot jumping technique with fun games such as "Bring Sally Up" and through simple partner assessments. The 1-2 group have even extended into hopping!

The Foundation class played a very resilient and inclusive game of Duck-Duck-Goose and it was so nice to see how kind they all are to each other.

ART

You would not believe how talented our students are at drawing! They’ve been learning lots of new skills and techniques in the art room the last few weeks and Mrs Hill has been blown away with how the students have been taking risks, challenged themselves and the pride they’ve taken in their drawings. The junior students have been drawing some funky colourful chickens, grade 3 students have been inspired by the works of Vincent Van Gogh in particular his sunflower works, and the 4-6 students have been designing and sketching some incredible shoes.
