Reflection: Vessels of Grace in Ordinary Time

As we journey through Ordinary Time, the Church invites us to notice the sacred in the everyday, in quiet acts of love, humble service, and moments of unseen grace. This season reminds us that holiness is lived out not just in celebration, but in persistence.

In our St Anthony's community, we naturally look to one another to reflect Christ, with kindness, humility and courage. But sometimes people fall short. And when they do, it can leave us hurt or disheartened.

Still, Scripture encourages us: “We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). We are all human, fragile vessels carrying a gift far greater than ourselves.

When someone’s actions don’t mirror Christ, it doesn’t mean Christ has left. It means we’re called to be His presence for one another, to pray when it’s hard, to show mercy even when wounded, and to cling to hope that love can restore what feels lost.

In this ordinary season, may we become extraordinary in our response. Let us choose to keep gently pointing each other back to Jesus...the One who never fails us.

May God bless you.
