Year 12 Badges

This week all the year 12 cohort got together to receive their Year 12 badges.

They were presented with their badges individually by some year 7 students to represent the fact the relatively short journey from year 7 to year 12 and the end of their secondary schooling.

Senior years AP, Warwick Lamb, spoke to the students about how close the end of year 12 is and how they will cherish the memoires of this time in their lives as they get older.

Students at WHC are encouraged to ‘Call Out’ poor behaviours they may be exposed to, witness, or hear of in our community.

If you hear something that is not right, or feel uncomfortable in our community, we want to hear from you!

Students are encouraged to email their Year Level address, where concerns will be resolved.

SSV VICTORIAN STATE CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to our Senior Softball team for taking out the State Championships over at Waverley; the home of Softball. It’s been 15 years since our last title, so this is a huge testament to our coaches Leanne and Hannah and dedication shown by our girls.

In The Garden

In the garden we have Jas, Chris, Chistan, Max, Ruby, Abby, Jake. That's our garden crew and so far in the garden we have removed the old tomato plants because they have become rotten so we pulled them out of the ground and we also collect the remaining good tomato's and got rid of the rotten ones. We are still thinking of what to put in there but for now we have been working on cleaning up the garden beds that need weeding so that we can grow new things like baby spinach, carrot, rocket, chilli, potato's, onion and broccoli.

So far on that one we have started to grow have been the rocket and spinach and carrot by putting them into some small pots grow them for now until they reach a good size to be replant in the garden before that we had to fill the small pots with good soil and we planted about ten pots per plant so that we could grow a good amount of them and we are also doing a thing were we each have a garden bed to grow our own vegetables and herbs which is up to us what we want to grow. Then we started to weed our garden beds to get them ready for planting so when time comes, they will be ready for planting season so until then we have been digging around the other garden beds to make bigger borders so that they can make the garden beds have more space for the plants.

BOOKMARKS: WHC LIBRARY NEWS

You may have noticed some new faces around our library. Over the next few weeks, we will be having work experience students from Hamlyn Views coming to our library to lean new skills and interact with the community. Be sure to give them a warm welcome if you see them around the library!

Thank you to all WHC students for completing the Harry Potter puzzle! Special shoutout to students Leshan Haskett, Chali Upston, Emily Posterino, Aalyiah Posterino, Daniel Thrope, Kyal Maxwell, Nick Maltbury, Admira Ali, Kayden McMahon and Jacob Meehan.

Our second display is to celebrate Pride month. Our library monitors and the Standout Group have selected a wide range of books that celebrate inclusivity, equality, LGBTQI+ characters and acceptance.

In exciting library news, we recently had our local Men’s Shed make some new library display shelves to showcase more of our amazing books in the library. They have already been a hit with students loving to browse all the different books and admire the covers.
