The Assumption: A Day to Celebrate Mary and Her Journey to Heaven
On Friday 15th August, our school came together to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption—a special day in the Catholic Church that honours Mary, the mother of Jesus. It’s the day we remember that Mary was taken into heaven, body and soul, because of her deep love and faith in God.
Students attended a beautiful Mass led by Father Angelo. He spoke about how Mary trusted God completely, even when things were uncertain. He reminded us that we can look to Mary as a role model—someone who was brave, kind, and always said “yes” to helping others.
🕊️ Celebrating Confirmation: A Powerful Step in Faith 🕊️
28 Students Confirmed at St Patrick’s Cathedral – Saturday 9th August
We are thrilled to congratulate the 28 students from our school and Parish who received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Saturday, 9th August. This was a truly special moment—not only for the students and their families, but for our entire school community—as it took place during a Jubilee year, a time of renewal, celebration, and grace in the life of the Church.
Confirmation is a powerful step in a young person’s faith journey. It’s the moment when they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit—wisdom, understanding, right judgment, courage, knowledge, reverence, and wonder and awe in God’s presence—and are called to live as full members of the Church. The ceremony, held in the majestic setting of St Patrick’s Cathedral, was filled with reverence, joy, and a deep sense of spiritual connection.
Very Reverend Vicar Tony Kerin led the celebration, speaking to the candidates about the importance of living their faith boldly and compassionately. He reminded them that Confirmation is not just a one-day event, but the beginning of a lifelong mission to share God’s love in the world.
A Jubilee Year Blessing
This year marks a Jubilee in our diocese—a time of special grace, reflection, and celebration. To be confirmed during such a meaningful year added extra significance to the occasion. The Jubilee theme of “Renewed in Spirit” echoed throughout the ceremony, reminding us all of the power of faith to transform hearts and communities.
A Community of Support
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers and families who guided the students through their preparation. From weekly lessons to prayer reflections and retreat days, the journey to Confirmation was filled with learning, growth and support.
Moving Forward in Faith
As these young people continue their journey, we pray that they feel empowered by the Holy Spirit and inspired to live with courage, kindness, and faith. May they always remember the strength of the community that surrounds them and the grace of the moment they were sealed with the Spirit.
Congratulations to our newly confirmed students—you are a light in our school and in the world!
