Faith-Based Inquiry
Dear Parents,
This term, our Faith-Based Inquiry units invite students to wonder, question and take action as they explore God’s world and their place within it.
Prep students are exploring “Living on God’s beautiful creation, planet Earth, where do I call home?” Students are beginning to appreciate the wonder of the world around them and reflect on what makes a place feel like home. They are noticing the special features of their surroundings and sharing what makes a place feel safe, welcoming and loved.
Year 1/2 are investigating “How do I belong in God's world, and how can we, as God's stewards, care for both the natural and built features of places so they flourish?” Students are learning that their actions contribute to the care and growth of the environments they live in.
Year 3/4 are exploring “How do different environments around the world help plants, animals, and people live in different ways? How can we sustain these environments for future generations in the way in which God intended?” Through this, they are discovering the richness and diversity of creation and the responsibility we share in protecting it.
Year 5/6 are engaging with “How does exploring global connections help us understand our role as people of faith in building a fairer world?” They are examining global issues and reflecting on how their faith calls them to act with justice, compassion, and responsibility.
Across the school, these inquiries are helping students grow in their understanding of God’s world, their place in it, and the ways they can live out their faith through action and care for creation.
Working and Planning Together
At St Joseph’s, staff are continually working and learning together to provide the very best opportunities for our students. Teachers meet regularly in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to share ideas, analyse student learning data, and plan engaging lessons that meet the needs of every child. By collaborating in this way, teachers are able to draw on each other’s strengths and expertise, ensuring a consistent and high-quality learning experience across all year levels.
Planning together also means teachers can develop rich, connected units of learning that align with the Victorian Curriculum and our school’s vision for teaching and learning. This teamwork allows staff to reflect on what is working well, explore new approaches, and adjust teaching strategies so that every student can succeed.
This collaboration means students benefit from the gifts of the whole teaching team and the importance of a learning community. We thank our families for supporting this partnership, which allows every child to flourish.
Kind regards
Megan Barber
