HOOPTIME -
BASKETBALL, AMAZING TEAM-EFFORTS & FUN!
With zero to no pre-training for Year 5 & 6 HoopTime teams due to a crazy-busy term of Peter Pan, our six Senior HoopTime teams went to Nunawading stadium with open-minds and a positive mind-set to just give it their best on Wednesday. However, with our ever-amazing and supportive parents and staff, our teams gradually settled into game-play and displayed some wonderful team-spirited efforts over each game. Teams played various schools, including Templestowe Park PS, Ringwood Nth, St. Dominic’s, Upwey PS and Boronia PS. Congratulations to our Future Stars Mixed Falcons who made it through to the Semi’s, and came 4th overall. Our five other teams all played some great competitive games over their day, with wins, draws and losses for them all.
THANK YOU’S: A massive thank you goes to our parent- coaches; as well as the ‘amazingly-calm-whilst-under-pressure’ scoring parents…. Known by many to be a tougher gig than the coaching role! Special thanks to Coaches; Ben Elix, Yvonne Kealy, Ben Turner, Kirrie Waldon & Chris O’Brien, and to our consistent scorers; you know who you are! To Ben and Carla for jumping on the energised bus ride to and from Nunawading with us - thank you! Our players would like to also thank the many parents that popped out for part or full day to support our teams! We certainly had an amazing cheer squad! Thanks to our supportive attending staff: Mrs Norton and Alessia for assisting with supervision and scoring over the day also!
AMAZING NATIONALS SUCCESS FOR EDIE
We are very excited to share this recount written by Edie S (6T), who just recently returned from playing for Team Victoria in the 12&U Girls National AFL football championships in Maroochydore, Queensland. Both Edie and her family are extremely grateful for the kind donations from our Donation Day for Edie. Please read her recap below on the amazing experience she had:
Representing Victoria in the U12 girls AFL team in Maroochydore, was by far one of the best weeks of my life. The week involved playing 6 games of footy against SA, QLD, NSW, ACT, NT and WA. Victoria were lucky enough to win all 6 games therefore winning Gold at the National Championships. My highlights were definitely making new friends, getting to know the amazing girls and coaches, learning new skills and playing against the Northern Territory because I got to swap a training top with one of their players. I loved knowing that my friends and classmates were supporting me and cheering me on when they were watching the livestream, as well as watching me kick a goal against ACT. Thank you to Mrs Thompson and Ms Hill for supporting me and to the teachers, students and parents who donated money. I felt very proud to represent Victoria in AFL football. Go Vic!
Congratulations Edie - what a wonderful achievement this is - we are all extremely proud of your amazing achievement!
