Cassia 1 & 2 News

MAIKA MCKUIRK-HANSON, LETETIA POLYCHRONOPOULOS, SOPHIE NUGENT &             MADONNA HOLMES

It has been a wonderful Week 4 in Cassia.

We are enjoying seeing the seasons turn. With the winter weather still present, we are seeing small signs of spring in the garden, tiny leaves growing, blossoms blooming, and baby mulberries fruiting on the trees.

Coming back to school this term, the Cassia children have been showing us how strong and capable they are, and with this, they are ready for all sorts of new challenges. With this in mind, we have introduced the next stage of our woodwork journey, and the children have been busy in the garden, sawing and sanding their swords and blocks. The making of a Cassia sword is hard work and takes time, the process cannot be rushed. This activity allows the children to develop skills including knowing how to use a clamp, learning to use a saw, hand drill and screwdriver; persevering with sanding until the sword is smooth, taking calculated risks and seeing intentions through.

As teachers, we are keeping an eye on the weather forecasts for the change of season, but as it looks like the cool weather is here to stay a little longer, bush walking is still going ahead, which we are all very happy about. As it is still cold, please remember that it is three-layer weather, and it is best and most practical if the children have layers on and spares in their bag so they can take them off or put more on depending on what we are doing throughout the day.

Looking forward to enjoying the end of winter before welcoming springs.

Our Cassia 1 & 2 Spring Festival: just a reminder, our Spring Festival will be held on Thursday, 17th September, from 8.30 am to 10.30 am. The children will go home with you after the festival. The next day, Friday 18th, Garden Day will be the last day of school. The end of term festivals are a wonderful culmination of 3 weeks of focus in the lead up to the actual day. The children are then so happy to invite you, their families, into have a little glimpse into their Cassia world

Blessings,

The Cassia Team
