Music Eisteddfod
John XXIII College’s annual Music Eisteddfod will be held this Sunday, 9 and Monday, 10 August, when hundreds of young musicians will fill the College with music! Featuring students from K – 12 in vocal, instrumental and ensemble categories, students receive feedback on their performances from our panel of external adjudicators, as they earn points towards the House Music Shield and individual award categories.
Please see below for a schedule of the event and note the following:
- Dress code for the event is House Shirt over comfortable, performance-appropriate pants (no leggings or Ugg boots). Jeans or school tracksuit pants are recommended.
Students are asked to arrive 10 minutes before session commencement, though please be mindful of ongoing sessions and performances.

Music Tour 2027 – Student Information Session
The Music Department is excited to announce an international performance tour to New Zealand in 2027, as part of the Rhapsody Rotorua International Music Festival! An information session will be held in the Performing Arts Centre, Band Room, during lunch on Tuesday, 11 August, and open to the following students:
- Wind Band members in Year 8 and above,
- Concert Band members in Years 8 - 11,
- Treble Choir members in Year 9,
- Chamber Choir members in Years 9 - 11
Chamber Orchestra members in Year 8 and above.
The meeting will contain information about the tour itinerary, expected cost, auditions and more. Students are welcome to bring their lunch as the meeting will start promptly at 1:00pm. Information from the meeting will be sent to families of eligible students, following the meeting.

Catholic Performing Arts Festival
Congratulations to the following students for their performances in the recent Catholic Performing Arts Festival!
- Chapel Choir – Choral Sacred Music – Merit
Chapel Choir
Chapel Choir is open to all Years 1 to 12 students who love singing, with a focus on liturgical music. Rehearsals commence at 7:30am in the Chapel with Ms Haydon and Mr Johnston on Fridays. Chapel Choir then sings at Community Mass (commencing at 8:00am). Secondary students who sing in the choir may include this time in their Roncalli Service hours.
