100 Days of Kindergarten

Last Friday, our amazing Kindergarten students celebrated 100 days of school! Over the past 100 days, they have grown in so many ways—learning to read, write, count, problem-solve, create, make friends, and build confidence every single day.

We are so proud of everything they have accomplished and the enthusiasm, kindness, and resilience they bring to our classrooms. Their curiosity and love of learning have made these first 100 days truly special.

Stage 1 - CBD Excursion

What an amazing day for Stage 1! 🍊 Our Science unit, 'Food and Our Future', came to life with a fantastic excursion to Brooker Trading Co. in Moree. We explored local produce like cotton, wheat, honey, and pecans, and even got to juice our own oranges! A huge thank you to Emily for the delicious brownies. Primary Years 3-6 UNE Science Discovery Visit

This week, students in Years 3-6 participated in hands-on experiments with the UNE Science Discovery Team. Sessions included "Science Meets Art" and "Plants, Poop, and Pollinators," where students explored the role of insects in our ecosystem and the importance of scientific illustration in communicating complex biological processes and history.

Year 6 Explores Australia as a Nation

This term, Year 6 has stepped into the roles of historians and have investigated how Australia evolved into a unified nation in 1901, focusing on how our country is governed today. This week, we explored the three levels of Australian Government: Local, State, and Federal, by creating infographic posters that outline their distinct structures and everyday responsibilities, from managing local parks to overseeing national defence.

Year 6 - Science & Engineering Challenge

Future Engineers Shined in Narrabri!

Last term, our bright Year 6 students headed off to Narrabri to represent our school in the Science & Engineering Challenge—and what a fantastic time they had!

Designed to push creative thinking and hands-on problem-solving to the next level, this exciting event saw our young innovators go head-to-head with schools across the region. Working in teams, students tackled real-world engineering hurdles—from constructing lightweight bridges and designing power grids to building wind-powered gliders.

It was a brilliant opportunity for our students to test their critical thinking, embrace teamwork, and put their STEM skills into action. Everyone involved had an absolute blast, coming away with great memories, new skills, and plenty of pride in what they accomplished together.

A huge congratulations to our Year 6 team for representing our school with such energy, curiosity, and team spirit!

Primary Public Speaking Competition

Each year, students from Years 3 to 6 participate in our Public Speaking Competition. Starting in Week 7, students will present their speeches in class. To be eligible for the finals, students must be ready to present on the Monday of Week 7 (31 August). From this, 4 finalists are chosen to present their speech in the hall in Week 10. Parents of finalists are invited to the finals, which will be held on Monday, 21 September 2026. Parents do not attend the in-class presentations.

INFORMATION:

All students are required to present a speech on any chosen topic to their class. We suggest that students choose something that they can speak knowledgeably about.
Speeches are written and rehearsed at home.
Parents are allowed to offer as much support as they can - this can include helping your child to write their speech.
Students are encouraged to use palm cards (not pages) during the presentation of their speech.
Time limits for speeches:
- Years 3 and 4 - 3 to 4 minutes.
- Years 5 and 6 - 4 to 5 minutes.

The criteria for judging includes how the speaker:

Captures and maintains the interest of their audience.
Makes eye contact.
Delivers their speech fluently.
Meets the given time frame.
Level of reliance on their notes.

Please note that students are scored on their understanding and delivery of their speech, NOT whether they wrote it themselves. Therefore, please help them compose and rehearse their speech as much as you can.
