Pyjama Day

Last Friday, students rolled out of bed and into their comfiest PJs for a great cause during our annual Pyjama Day in support of Vinnies. Students generously donated essential, unused toiletries—including toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, roll-on deodorant, and sanitary items. Thanks to everyone's incredible enthusiasm, we collected a fantastic assortment of items that will go directly to helping local families and individuals doing it tough. Thank you to our whole school community for showing up in your PJs and making such a warm, impactful difference! A big shout-out also to Year 8 for sorting all the donations and loading Mrs Moylan's car!

The Angelus 

What is the Angelus? 

The prayer takes its name from its opening words in Latin, "Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariae" ("The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary"). It is a short scriptural reflection recounting the story of the Annunciation—the moment when the Angel Gabriel asked Mary to be the mother of Jesus.

Why do we pray it? 

• A Moment to Pause: In the middle of a busy school day filled with learning, sports, and friends, it invites us to stop, take a deep breath, and reset.
• A Reminder of God’s Presence: It refocuses our attention on God, reminding us of the ultimate gift of Jesus coming into our world.
• Saying "Yes" Like Mary: It encourages us to follow Mary’s example of faith, kindness, and saying "yes" to God's plan in our daily lives.

We cherish the moments where we can pause as a community to connect with God and reflect on our faith. Prayer occurs in our school every day. One of these special traditions is the praying of the Angelus.  

As a school, we will be praying the Angelus. In the midst of our busy school day, our students and staff will stop what they are doing, quiet their minds, and spend a few moments in shared prayer. It is a wonderful daily reminder for all about God’s constant presence in our lives, teaching the value of mindfulness, gratitude, and daily reflection.
