St Peters Day
This year’s St Peter’s Day was an absolute cracker!!
We began the day with a beautiful celebration of the Eucharist in the Multipurpose Hall, giving thanks for the many blessings in our lives. In his homily, Fr Antony reflected on our theme, Be Not Afraid, reminding us that courage is not the absence of fear, but the confidence to face our fears knowing that, with the support of one another and guided by God, we will persevere. Interestingly, this same message had been shared earlier in the year by former student and serviceman Bruno during our ANZAC Day ceremony.
Fr Antony also offered another powerful insight, suggesting that it was during the storm, when Peter was experiencing his most difficult and turbulent moment, that he came to truly understand who he was and recognise God’s presence in his life. It was a timely reminder for all of us that growth often comes through challenge, and that rather than avoiding discomfort and complexity, we should lean into them with faith and trust.
Beyond the celebration of the Eucharist, the day was filled with many highlights. There was a sensational bake stall, a wonderful variety of food options, games and activities for all ages, the traditional sausage sizzle, and thrilling rides that certainly tested a few stomachs. The festivities culminated in St Peter’s Has Talent, where some of our most courageous and talented students took to the stage and entertained the crowd with remarkable performances.
It was an outstanding day and a fitting celebration of who we are as a Catholic community; guided by the life and mission of Jesus, and inspired by the authentic faith and example of our patron, St Peter.
Front gate access times (correction)
In my previous article, I asked staff and parents to avoid using the vehicle access gates during the 15 minutes before and after the arrival and dismissal bells. To clarify, please do not use the vehicle gates between 8:30 am and 9:15 am, and 3:15 pm and 3:45 pm.
Please note that the previously stated time of 9:50 am was incorrect. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping to keep our arrival and dismissal times safe and efficient for all students.
Uniform and Presentation
The beginning of a new term provides an excellent opportunity to reinforce the importance of wearing the correct school uniform. While many students consistently meet our expectations, we are aware that some are choosing not to comply with uniform requirements. Common issues include wearing yoga pants, incorrect footwear, and sports uniforms on non-PE days.
As a College, we place great value on pride in presentation and adherence to our shared expectations. We appreciate your support when House Leaders, Learning Advisors, and Teachers address uniform concerns. This may involve a detention being issued or, in some cases, parents being asked to collect their child from school. Such decisions are made when a House Leader determines that the breach is not an isolated oversight, but part of an ongoing pattern of disregarding the College’s uniform expectations.
Working together, we can ensure that all students represent St Peter’s College with pride and uphold the standards of our community.
