🧮 Amazing Maths Extension Opportunities at Maramba
At Maramba Primary School, we are committed to providing students with opportunities to extend, challenge and develop their mathematical thinking. Our Maths Extension Programs continue to deliver excellent results, with students being challenged to think deeply, solve complex problems and apply their mathematical knowledge in new and unfamiliar situations.
A wonderful example of this was our recent participation in the Australian Maths Competition (AMC), run by the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT). The AMC is a prestigious national mathematics competition that challenges students with a range of problem-solving and mathematical reasoning questions.
This year, 34 Maramba students took part, with some outstanding results!
We were incredibly proud to see Aadya P achieve a High Distinction, including a near-perfect score. A High Distinction places a student in the top 3% of students across Australia, which is an exceptional achievement.
We also had seven students achieve Distinctions, with fantastic performances from:

- Aadvik P
- Cooper M
- Katya W
Toby G
A Distinction places students in the top 10% across Australia, highlighting the high level of mathematical reasoning and problem-solving demonstrated by these students.
These results are a fantastic reflection of the hard work and commitment of our students and the opportunities provided in Maths at Maramba and through our Maths Extension Program. The program goes beyond simply completing more difficult mathematics; students are encouraged to develop their reasoning, persistence, strategic thinking and confidence when tackling challenging problems.
We are extremely proud of the achievements of all 34 students who participated in the AMC. Whether students achieved a distinction or simply challenged themselves to take part, competing in a national mathematics competition is a wonderful opportunity to stretch their thinking and see what they are capable of achieving.
