The following footwear is not permitted:
Crocs
Slides
Birkenstocks
The new College royal blue polo, PE shorts and training shoes provide an excellent option for training and travel.
Training Expectations
Summer sport training has commenced. Attendance at training is a compulsory part of every student's sporting commitment, and coaches will be monitoring attendance.
Please encourage your son to make the most of the training opportunities available to ensure both his individual development and the success of his team.
Students must attend training in full St Pius X branded clothing. Mufti is not permitted. This requirement applies to:
- Training sessions
- Travel to and from training (including training at the SPX Sarto Gym)
Sportsmanship and Conduct
The College fully supports and adheres to the ISA and IPSHA Codes of Conduct. These standards apply to players, spectators and coaches alike. The documents are found below and we ask all families to familiarise themselves with these expectations and support the positive culture of College sport.
We also include the risk warning for sporting activities below and ask that you take the time to familiarise yourselves with this document.
I am pleased to announce the list of cocurricular coaches and convenors for the summer sport season below.
We wish all students the very best for the upcoming summer sport season. Thank you for your support as we work together to uphold and enhance the reputation of St Pius X College through exemplary participation, sportsmanship and conduct.

Oliver Ward

Maximilian Allende
This is a significant achievement and recognises the outstanding performances of these athletes at the CIS level, where they finished in the Top 3 in their respective events.
NSW All Schools
Athletes who wish to continue their athletics journey often register to compete at NSW All Schools Championship. This year, this event was held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre (SOPAC) between Saturday 26 to Tuesday 29 September.
A special mention goes to James Mikan, who competed in Long Jump, Triple Jump and 200m Hurdles. He achieved the Gold in Long Jump (6.76m) and Triple Jump (13.64m), and Silver in the 200m Hurdles (25.75 sec). He has now qualified to compete at the Australian All Schools Championships in all 3 events in Perth from Friday 4 December to Sunday 6 December. We wish him all the best!

Summer Basketball Season Update
All teams are now visible in Clipboard, and training has commenced.
A reminder that training and game attendance are compulsory commitments as part of your son's registration. Consistent attendance is vital for team preparation, player development and enjoyment.
It has been pleasing to see strong numbers across most teams this week. However, several teams had only 3-4 players attend training. Low attendance impacts the quality of sessions and makes it difficult for coaches to prepare teams for the season ahead.
Please continue to check Clipboard for team updates, training information and fixtures.
Please note: there is limited seating for Court 1 in the CBC due to ongoing works. We look forward to a great summer basketball season.
ISA Fixtures
Fixtures are now available in Clipboard. Please note that games may initially appear as 'Unconfirmed' and display a placeholder time (such as 2:35 am) or temporary venue.
Once details are confirmed by our opposition schools, fixtures will be updated in Clipboard and marked 'Confirmed'. This confirmation can occur as late as Thursday each week.
Families should check Clipboard regularly for updates and ensure students are available for all home and away fixtures throughout the season.
First V Sydney School Shootout
Congratulations to our First V Basketball team, who finished Runners-Up in Division 2 at the Sydney Schools Shootout over the holidays.
The team enjoyed a strong tournament, recording impressive wins throughout the pool rounds before facing Joeys in a thrilling semi-final. After digging deep and showing tremendous resilience, the students secured victory in double overtime to earn their place in the Grand Final.
In the final, they came up against a strong St Augustine's outfit who established an early lead, forcing SPX to chase the game for much of the contest. Despite some excellent defensive efforts and sharp shooting, the team fell just five points short.
We are incredibly proud of the players for the way they represented the program throughout the tournament. Their effort, sportsmanship and commitment were outstanding and provide a great foundation heading into the summer season.
Basketball Holiday Camp
The recent school holidays saw over 90 Senior School students participate across basketball development camps, led by James Asensi and the AET Basketball coaching team alongside First V Coach Jack Garrett.
The camps provided an excellent opportunity for players to continue their development during the break, with sessions focused on skill development, decision-making, game concepts and competitive play.
A highlight was the invitation-only Elite Camp for Years 9 and 10 players, which challenged students through high-level drills, advanced concepts and game-based learning in preparation for the upcoming ISA season.
Thank you to all players and coaches who attended and contributed to the camps' success. The energy, effort and commitment shown throughout the week have provided a strong foundation as we head into the summer basketball season.
Basketball Uniform
All players must be correctly dressed to take the court. Students will not be permitted to play or participate in warm-ups without the correct SPX Basketball uniform.
Required items:
SPX Basketball Shorts
SPX Playing Singlet
Both items can be purchased from the College Uniform Shop.
Players selected in development teams will be provided with a coloured team singlet for the season. All players, including development teams, are required to have their SPX Basketball shorts.
All students, whether competing or attending as spectators, must arrive at fixtures and training sessions in approved College-branded uniform, including appropriate footwear.
The following footwear is not permitted:
- Crocs
- Slides
- Birkenstocks
Bathurst Trip This Weekend
Thank you to all the players and families travelling to Bathurst this weekend for Round 1 of the ISA Basketball season.
Students travelling on the team bus are reminded that the bus will depart from Anderson Street at 6:00 am sharp. We ask all players to arrive early to ensure a smooth departure.
A special thank you to Mr Gibson and all of our coaches for their support and commitment in making this trip possible for our students.
There are still a small number of seats available on the bus. Families wishing to book a seat can do so via Activity Selection in Clipboard.
