Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Term Three has certainly been a busy and enjoyable one with many opportunities for our students to learn, participate and connect with our wider community. Highlights have included our Athletics Day, Father’s Day celebrations, Grandparents Day, Book Week, BioLab, ASHfest, RiverConnect and Breakfast Club. Our Foundation students celebrated being 100 Days Brighter, while our Grade 3 and 4 students enjoyed their camp. It has been wonderful to see our students enthusiastically involved in such a wide range of activities and experiences.
Next term will also be a busy one, beginning with our Grade 5 and 6 camp in the first week.
I will then be taking three weeks of long service leave, with Filippa replacing me during this time and Sharon O'Connell will replace Filippa in the classroom. We also have our school concert to look forward to, along with all the excitement that comes with our final term of the year.
PRINCIPAL RECRUITMENT PROCESS
The recruitment process for the Principal position at Toolamba Primary School will commence next term. The position will be advertised on Recruitment Online from Friday 16th October, with applications closing on Thursday 29th October.
Following the closing date, the selection process is expected to take approximately three weeks before the outcome can be announced to the school community.
Brendan Bicknell, Senior Education Improvement Leader, will lead the process. The selection panel will consist of:
- Lauren Hicks – School Council President
- Morgan Lang – School Council Representative
- Filippa Kimmorley – Staff Representative
- One Principal Representative – selected by the Senior Education Improvement Leader
We will keep our school community informed as the process progresses.
BioLab
Yesterday, the Grade 5/6s arrived at school at 6 am for our trip to Geelong, to BioLab. There, we participated in three activities. The first activity was in the Laboratory. Here we tested synthetic blood for the presence of Steroids. We used equipment such as beakers, a centrifuge and colourometer to discover whether there were steroids present in the samples. Secondly, we monitored our heart rates as we moved from resting, to movement. We used a sports heart monitor as well as ipads to electronically measure and graph our heart rate. Thirdly, we investigated reaction times using light buttons. We worked in teams with random lights, testing our ability to press the light as quickly as possible with our hands and our feet. We then ordered our results along a thousandths numberline. It was a great opportunity and a wonderful day!
FUN IN DOUBLE MATHS
It was wonderful to have some of the grade one and two students visit me and proudly share their fraction work. They enjoyed explaining their learning and demonstrating their understanding of fractions.

GRAND FINALISTS
Congratulations to Miss Maskell for winning the KDFNL A Grade netball Grand Final last weekend with Shepparton East FNC. Miss Maskell went back to back and played an awesome game to take home the win. Well done.
Congratulations to Miss Farrar and Mrs Tuhan who competed in their badminton Grand Final on Tuesday evening. Although they didn't come away with the win, they have very much enjoyed the season. For anyone interested, the new season begins in March. Seniors on Tuesdays and juniors on Fridays at the Shepparton Stadium.
END TERM ASSEMBLY
Our final assembly for the term will be held this Friday 18th September at 1:30pm.
School will resume on Monday 5th September.
