What a term it has been! Wishing all students, families and teachers a fun, safe and relaxing holiday. I look forward to welcoming you back to school on Wednesday 22 April.

Pulse Alive

Last week Ben Venue sent 20 singers and 10 dancers from Years 4 and 6 to the incredible Pulse Alive concert held at Ken Rosewall Arena, Sydney Olympic Park. This was the first time Ben Venue had participated in this School Spectacular style event and the students loved being part of a such a large scale performance.

Both primary and secondary students from public schools across the state showcased their talents in the Creative Arts, including music, drama, dance and incredible vocal solos and ensembles. Ben Venue students were exemplary in their performance and behaviour and it was fantastic to see their appreciation and enjoyment of such a diverse range of performances. The camaraderie between our students and performers from other schools was also great to see and added to the experience. Our dancers performed with a number of other schools to 'High Hopes' and were lucky enough to perform front and center on the stadium floor. Our choir students performed in the stands, showcasing a number of songs and providing backing vocals for a range of vocal numbers.

Our next big Creative Arts event will be the Armidale Eisteddfod in May, followed by the Festival of Choral Music in August at the Opera House. We will round out the year with the New England Sings! event on Saturday 1 November. It is fantastic for us to be able to provide so many wonderful opportunities for our students in the Creative Arts space.

Congratulations to all of our amazing Pulse Alive participants, we are so proud of you!

Mrs Porter, Mrs Howlett and Ms Wassman

Year 6 Leadership Camp

In Week 7, our Year 6 Leaders participated in an overnight camp at the Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre with Mr Matt McKenzie, Mr Osborn and Mrs Howlett. Students participated in team-building activities, including an evening fire-side drumming session, contributed to discussions around what it is to be a leader, and initiated the planning of a number of projects the team hopes to lead over the year.

The camp was a great way to develop the leadership and collaboration skills of our Year 6 Leadership Team. We look forward to seeing what they achieve together over the year.
