Potato Fair Committee

We are on the hunt for a Potato Fair Committee to begin planning for this year’s Fair!

Our Potato Fair is our major school fundrasing event and we are in the need of some superstar volunteers. If you can help with assisting in the organisation, please let me know via the office.

Our first meeting for the year will be next week.

NAPLAN

This week the Years 3 & 5 students began participating in the Literacy and Numeracy testing held across Australia. We know that these tests do not showcase the talents of the artists, athletes, musicians, actors, performers etc, only the literacy and numeracy skills.

As always, we celebrate their achievements and use the data to continue planning, assessing, and delivering high quality curriculum programs.

Thank you to all families for preparing your students with a good night’s sleep, healthy food and having them ready to show their current level of ability.

Thank you to all staff who administer the tests and supported our learners to do their best.

Fortunately, we were not affected by the Nationwide issue with the NAPLAN platform during the writing testing.

School Crossing and Bikes

We ask that parents please have a talk with your children that ride to school (bikes and scooters) about walking across the school crossings.

We recently had advice from the City of Greater Geelong Council, please see below:

“We are reaching out to request your support in reinforcing an important safety requirement with your students.

Our School Crossing Supervisors have reported an increase in students riding their bikes across the road rather than dismounting before entering the crossing. This behaviour poses significant safety risks—not only to the students on bikes, but also to other pedestrians and the supervisors managing the crossing.

Riding through a crossing can lead to:

Reduced visibility and reaction time for both the student and approaching vehicles.
Loss of control, especially in wet weather or crowded crossing areas.
Increased risk of collisions with other students who are walking.
Confusion for drivers, who expect pedestrians—not cyclists—within the crossing space.

To maintain a safe and consistent environment across all school crossings, it is essential that all students dismount and walk their bikes across the road every time.”

We have also received reports that a number of families are not using the school crossing when crossing Clifton Springs Road.

Please ensure that all families use the designated school crossing point for safety.
