Growing Our School Garden Community
This year we have been excited to introduce Garden Clubs during lunchtime, along with a Wellbeing Garden Group that selected students participate in throughout the week.
These opportunities have created a wonderful space for students to connect with nature, with each other, and with our school environment.
It has been fantastic to see so many students eager to spend time in the garden. Some enjoy watering the plants, others are planting seedlings or helping care for the beds, and many simply enjoy sitting on the blankets, drawing with chalk, and spending time in the space. The garden has quickly become a place where students can feel calm, creative, and connected.
Firstly, I would like to extend a huge thank you to the families and community members who have already donated their time, resources, or materials to support the garden. Your generosity has helped us create and grow this space for our students, and we are incredibly grateful.
As the garden continues to grow, we would love to build a community around caring for it. We are inviting anyone from our school community who may be interested in being part of the garden to get involved. This is open to everyone — parents, carers, grandparents, and community members.
We are particularly looking for people who might be willing to help with simple tasks such as:
- Watering plants
- Weeding garden beds
- General care and maintenance of the garden
These tasks could be done during the day while students are in class, after school, or even on weekends, whenever it suits you.
Please note that all volunteers would need to complete an induction training session - these will be held on Monday 30th March at 3pm or Tuesday 31st March at 9.10am with school leadership. All volunteers must have a current Working with Children Check.
We also welcome donations of any garden-related items that you may no longer need at home.
This could include things such as:
- Gardening tools
- Plants or seedlings
- Pots or containers
- Seeds
- Garden decorations or materials
If you have something that could find a new life in our school garden, we would be very grateful.
If you are interested in being part of our growing garden community, or have something you would like to donate, please reach out through the school email, or contact Olivia Martin on Sentral.
Thank you again for helping us nurture a space where our students can learn, connect, and grow.
