Footy Tipping

Preparing for Work Experience

In preparation for Work Experience in November, our year 10 students have been undertaking a range of activities during their Advisory sessions designed to build important workplace skills.

A key focus has been effective communication, with students exploring how clear communication can help them succeed in a workplace environment. This week, students focused on the important skills of giving clear instructions and seeking clarification when required.

Students participated in practical activities that required them to communicate carefully and listen closely to instructions. The task proved to be trickier than some students expected, highlighting just how important it is to be clear when giving directions and to ask questions when something is unclear!

These activities will continue throughout the term as students develop the confidence and skills needed to make the most of their upcoming Work Experience placements.

SAE - CREATE FOR A DAY!

Saturday 3rd October, 10:00am - 3:00pm

This October school holidays, SAE University College is opening its doors for Create for a Day: a one-day, hands-on experience where you’ll step into the studio, lab or production space and start creating. Spend the day on campus working on a real project in Animation, Audio, Computer Science, Design, Film, Games, Music or VFX. Open to students in Years 10-12 and to age 21.

Work Experience Opportunities

The National Gallery of Victoria offers work experience placements for secondary school students. Placements are based with the NGV Learn Team & where possible with other Departments.

Experience work behind the scenes at Victoria's Parliament House. Whether you’re interested in politics, planting trees, law-making or baking, your work experience placement at the Parliament of Victoria will be an experience you’ll remember. This is a unique opportunity to undertake a week-long placement in either the Parliamentary Sitting or Parliamentary Services program. Placements run for 5 days: Monday-Friday, from 9am until 5pm each day. Expressions of Interest - Terms 1 & 2 2027 open early September!

Outdoor School offers Work Experience for Secondary School students at their 15 Mile Creek Campus and Bogong Campus. Under supervision, students will have a fantastic opportunity to undertake a range of tasks within a program based around outdoor education, outdoor adventure activities, environmental sustainability.
