Year 1 Bulletin
What a wonderful and busy term it has been in Year 1! We have enjoyed many exciting experiences, learning opportunities, and moments to celebrate together.
Melbourne Zoo
This term, Year 1 visited Melbourne Zoo, where we explored, observed animals and learned more about the environments they live in. Following our excursion, we used our experiences to create our own books, sharing what we saw, learned and enjoyed during our special day.
Book Week
We also celebrated Book Week by dressing up as our favourite book characters. We took part in a character creation workshop with Anne, where we used our imaginations to develop and bring characters to life. We were also lucky enough to watch a wonderful performance of Dear Broccoli by Meerkat Productions, bringing the story we have been learning about to life on stage.
Crazy Hair Day
There have been plenty of opportunities to celebrate and have fun too, including Crazy Hair Day, where we saw some wonderfully creative hairstyles across Year 1!
Investigations
Our Investigations have continued to be a favourite part of our learning. Students have explored a range of areas, including the Maths Game Zone, Travel Agent, Music Studio, Writers Club and City Planners. At Writers Club, some students have worked collaboratively to plan, write and create their very own stories, while our City Planners have been busy designing and developing their own communities. We also have some young travel agents on the rise, who have worked to plan some very fun and exciting overseas trips for their peers and teachers!
Gardening with Anna
We were also very lucky to attend a session in the Garden with Anna, where we used clay and materials we could find in the garden to create our own little pots. It was a wonderful opportunity to be surrounded by nature in the garden enjoying the sun and the fresh air.
It has been a fantastic term filled with creativity, collaboration, curiosity and learning, and we are so proud of the way our Year 1 students have embraced each new opportunity!
