FIRE Carrier Excusrion

Year 6 Faith evening

FIRE carrier excursion

During our excursion to the State Library, our students learned about the evolving story of Treaty in Victoria, reflecting on its past, present, and future. Exploring original documents, maps and artwork detailing the 1835 Batman Treaty, they learnt about early colonial history and the complex legacy of Australia's first claim to a treaty. Moving beyond the past, students began to learn about Victoria's landmark Statewide Treaty 2025. Through video accounts shared by Victorian Aboriginal community members, students were reminded of Wurundjeri Elder Ringo Terrick's insight that a treaty is fundamentally a promise of peace and understanding; a vital thread connecting historical truths with a collaborative future for Victoria's First Peoples and the wider community.

Students then attended the NGV (A) where we were guided through Australian indigenous art and non-indigenous artwork.  Students were captivated by Robert McCubbin's massive 'The Pioneer' art piece and their faces lit up as they learned about the sculptures of the cheeky and mischievious 'Spirit' creatures (pictures below).  We entered the contemporary and modern space where the neon lights of current Aboriginal works were displayed.

During our breaks we were able to meet, albeit briefly, with some of our cluster schools. It was a fabulous day out learning and knowing that our cluster schools are also working towards a place of reconciliation for all Australians.

Family Faith night

Our Confirmation candidates and their families recently gathered for a wonderful Faith Night filled with warmth, fun, friendship and shared learning as our young people prepare for this important sacrament.

The focus of the night was exploring the true qualities of sainthood through the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Families spent time discovering how these shine not only through famous canonised saints throughout history, but also in the 'ordinary saints' around us; our everyday role models in our homes, school and parish community.

Candidates also reflected on Confirmation as the third stage of initiation into the Catholic Church, completing their baptismal journey and strengthening them for their mission ahead. It was an inspiring reminder of how our young people (and all of us) can continue to be the Good News for Christ in the world through everyday acts of love and grace.

Thank you to all the families who came along and helped make it such a joyful and inspiring evening!
