Acting Principal's Message
Welcome
Dear St John's Community,
Welcome to Term 4. I hope you and your family had an enjoyable holiday .
Staff Faith Formation Day
Our staff began the new term with an inspiring Faith Formation Day at the Catholic Precinct around St Patrick's Cathedral and Australian Catholic University.
Each year, one of our Professional Practice Days is dedicated to nurturing and deepening our staff's faith formation. This intentional focus aims to:
It was a rich and rewarding day of reflection, learning, and community. A special thanks to Ms Patton for organising the day.
Building Community Respect: Parent, Guardian & Carer Code of Conduct
At the heart of a flourishing school community is a shared commitment to mutual respect, safety and support. The Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Parent, Guardian, and Carer Code of Conduct plays a vital role in upholding these values across our school. By establishing clear expectations for positive, constructive communication and behaviours, the Code helps us maintain a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment where all students, staff, and visitors feel valued. We encourage all families to review the Code of Conduct, which is available on our school's website, as we work together to partner in your child’s learning journey.
Principal Appointment Update
Interviews have taken place for the appointment of the new St John's principal beginning in 2027. An announcement on the position is due in the next few weeks.
Staying Focused and Grounded in Term 4
Term 4 is always an exciting time of year, filled with end-of-year events, special activities and celebrations! While there is much to look forward to, it is equally important that we maintain our focus on the learning journey right up until the last day.
Learning takes an immense amount of energy—concentrating, thinking critically and engaging in class require real effort. As the term progresses, it is natural for students to feel tired and occasionally dysregulated. To help your child navigate the busy weeks ahead and continue to thrive, we encourage families to keep home routines as regular and predictable as possible, prioritising plenty of rest and consistent sleep schedules.
By working together to keep routines grounded, we can ensure our students stay energised, focused, and ready to finish the school year on a positive note!
Reflections on God's Creation: A Journey Across the USA
During my recent Long Service Leave, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel across the United States. It was an unforgettable experience, and what struck me most deeply throughout my travels was the sheer beauty and diversity of God's creation.
Standing before the majestic Grand Canyon, taking in the vast, serene expanse of the Mojave Desert, and visiting the rich, sacred landscapes of Navajo country was truly awe-inspiring. Moments like these serve as a powerful reminder of the grandeur of nature and the incredible world we have been gifted to steward.
Returning to school with a renewed sense of wonder and gratitude, I am reminded of how fortunate we are to experience the beauty of creation every day—both in grand natural wonders abroad and right here within our own vibrant school community.

Prayer of Healing for Pope Leo XIV
Gracious and Loving God,
We give thanks for the dedicated care of the medical team attending to Pope Leo XIV and entrust his continued recovery to Your loving hands.
Bless the physicians, nurses, and caregivers who accompany him, using their skills as instruments of Your healing grace. Remain close to Pope Leo during his time of recovery. Grant him comfort in discomfort, renew his physical strength, and fill his heart with Your peace.
Restore him to full health, that he may continue to lead and shepherd Your Church with faith, hope, and compassion.
We ask Mary, Health of the Sick, to wrap him in her maternal mantle and intercede for him, and for all who are suffering from illness today.
Amen
Warm regards,
Maree Summers
