Diwali

Whilst Holy Family is a Catholic school we also recognise the diversity of our school community which is made of of many different cultures as well as many different religious groups.

As Diwali will be celebrated by a number of our families next Monday 28th October, the students have been learning about this special  festival of lights, especially as it connects beautifully to our charism 'Be the light'.

Our two Faith Leaders, Ella and Amira have given a presentation to each class, explaining the customs and traditions of Diwali , then students have made Diwali crafts which they will decorate their classrooms with for Monday.

Also known as the "Festival of Lights," Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Families across the world mark the occasion by cleaning and decorating their homes, lighting traditional oil lamps (diyas), and creating colorful floor patterns called rangoli to welcome prosperity.

It is a time for togetherness, families exchange gifts and sweets, share delicious feasts, and worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha for wealth, wisdom, and good fortune. We wish all who will be celebrating a very Happy Diwali!
