Prep/1 - Term 2

We’ve had a buzzing and exciting start to Term 2 in Prep/1, with students returning to school ready to learn, grow and challenge themselves. It has been wonderful to see everyone settle back into routines so positively and enthusiastically.

Over the past few weeks, our classroom has been full of rich learning experiences and hands-on activities. One exciting milestone for our Prep students has been beginning their take-home readers. The children have shown great enthusiasm and pride as they start building their confidence and independence in reading at home.

In Integrated Studies, we have been learning about the chronology of events and how things change over time. Students explored sequencing through a variety of engaging activities, including growing our own bean plants and observing the changes each day. We also had lots of fun making fairy bread while following and sequencing the steps in order. To connect learning to their own lives, students created timelines of their personal growth, looking at how they have changed from babies and toddlers to the wonderful learners they are today.

Our Prep students are absolutely smashing their phonics learning. They are developing strong foundational reading skills and are becoming increasingly confident with blending sounds together to read words. It has been fantastic to watch their confidence and independence grow each week.

We have also been making the most of the beautiful weather, enjoying bright days outside while eating lunch together and building positive friendships through play and conversation. In Music, students have loved developing their musical skills with Luis, participating enthusiastically in singing, rhythm and movement activities.

This is just a small snapshot of the many exciting learning experiences happening each day in Prep/1. We are so proud of the growth, curiosity and positivity our students continue to show, and we look forward to an amazing rest of the term ahead.
