Message from the Principal

Cecilia Parada

Dear families

Each year, our school respectfully acknowledges National Sorry Day on 26 May, a day dedicated to remembering the profound harm caused to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by past government policies, particularly the forced removal of children from their families and communities - the Stolen Generations. This day is a solemn reminder of the resilience of Indigenous communities and the importance of healing and understanding.

Following this, we observe National Reconciliation Week from 27 May to 3 June, a significant period that commemorates two key milestones in Australia’s journey towards justice and equality: the 1967 referendum, which recognised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Census, and the landmark Mabo decision, which overturned the legal doctrine of terra nullius and acknowledged Indigenous land rights.

Our school is proud to integrate these important themes into our teaching programs, fostering respect, empathy, and knowledge among students. Throughout the week, we organise a range of engaging activities and special events aimed at deepening our community’s understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and contributions. Together, we continue to walk the path toward reconciliation, recognising the importance of truth, respect, and unity.

Is your child starting Kindergarten for 2027? Kindergarten 2027 Information Session Invitation

We warmly invite prospective families to join us for our Kindergarten 2027 Information Session on Wednesday 27 May, from 7:45 am to 8:30 am in the school library. This session is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our school, programs, and what to expect when starting Kindergarten.

If you know any families who are not currently part of our school community but are planning to enrol their child in Kindergarten for 2027, please kindly share this information with them. Meadowbank Public School welcomes enrolments both from within our local intake area and from families residing outside the local boundaries.

Applications for both local and non-local enrolments can be conveniently submitted via our school website: Meadowbank Public School

We look forward to connecting with our Kindergarten 2027 families and sharing important details to help support a smooth and exciting start to their child’s educational journey.

I would love to hear from you! Parent Survey

In Term 2, we are inviting parents and carers to participate in the NSW Public Schools Parent Survey. The survey gives you the opportunity to share your experience at our school, including communication, inclusion, wellbeing and how your child’s learning is supported.

Hearing directly from our parents and carers will help us understand what’s working well and where improvements can be made. Participation in the survey is optional, your responses are anonymous, and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete. You can access at the survey at: https://surveyme.education.nsw.gov.au/sc/WxXoSD1bYIQJlh2eFFYMig2

Further information about the NPSS Parent Survey is available at https://education.nsw.gov.au/npss

The survey is open until the end of Term 2.
