Year 6 Enjoy Second STEP Day at O’Connor Catholic College

On Tuesday, 2 June, our Year 6 students attended their second STEP (School Transition Experience Program) Day at O’Connor Catholic College. Upon arrival, students were divided into four groups and rotated through a range of engaging learning activities designed to give them a taste of high school life.

In Religion, students explored the theme of Being the Light, discussing how they can positively influence others through their words and actions.

During the Laser Cutting session, students learned about the importance of logos and were introduced to the history and meaning behind the O’Connor Catholic College logo. Each student created and took home a dove keyring, featuring the school’s dove symbol.

In Science, students investigated chemical reactions through a series of exciting experiments and demonstrations, sparking plenty of curiosity and discussion.

Students also spent time in the School Library, where they explored the extensive collection of books and resources available to secondary students. They participated in a fun scavenger hunt that helped them become familiar with the library space.

Throughout the day, students were treated to a delicious morning tea and enjoyed pizza for lunch.

The STEP Day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence, meet staff and students from O’Connor Catholic College, and continue preparing for their transition to high school. We thank the staff and students of O’Connor Catholic College for another enjoyable and welcoming experience.
