Rugby League Camp
To start our first day back at school for 2025, our Senior Rugby League Academy team were fortunate enough to go on a team-bonding camp. This was an intensive one-day camp that was run by our Rugby League Coordinator, Tony Adam and Strength & Conditioning Coach, Chris Dikranis. The day focused on setting key standards for the year both academically and physically to ensure the students gain the most out of their schooling and sport. With different activities, meetings, on-field conditioning and pool recovery, the boys connected and started the year off strong and motivated.

Chinese New Year 2025
On 5th February, the Year 10, 11, and 12 Chinese classes students at VUSC celebrated Chinese New Year by making dumplings together at school. They carefully learned the technique of wrapping dumplings, and the dumplings they made were not only beautifully shaped but also delicious!
In a joyful atmosphere, students experienced Chinese traditional culture and gained a deeper understanding of the customs of the Spring Festival.
Dumplings hold special significance during Chinese New Year. They symbolize wealth and prosperity because their shape resembles ancient Chinese gold ingots. Eating dumplings on New Year's Eve is believed to bring good fortune for the coming year. In many families, making dumplings together is also a meaningful tradition that represents reunion, togetherness, and shared happiness.
Additionally, the Year 12 students received red envelopes (hóng bāo, 红包), a traditional New Year gift that symbolizes good luck and blessings. This special gesture represents the hope that they will have a smooth and successful school year, filled with achievements and happiness.
This year is the Year of the Snake, which symbolizes wisdom, flexibility, and good fortune in Chinese culture. We hope that in the new year, everyone can be as smart and adaptable as a snake, bravely facing new challenges!

Gardening Club @ Junior Campus
Interested in gardening? Come along to the Gardening Club at lunch time on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Junior Campus with Ms Grant. The Club is led by the students’ interests and will form part of a larger plan to improve the gardens of the campus.
The goal which the students have identified for 2025 is:
to improve biodiversity through restoring habitat for Victoria’s native plants and animals. This is supported with a Junior Landcare Grant and Victorian Schools Gardening Grant.

Rehearsals will be starting soon and, as in past years, will take place each Friday after school at the senior campus in the Theatre.
