2024 Commencement Assembly and new beginnings

This morning we held our 2024 Commencement Assembly and came together as a school community to celebrate and acknowledge with great pride the academic achievements of the HSC class of 2023.

In addition, we also formally welcomed new students, families, and staff to our school community, presented our 2024 Kindergarten students and Year 12 cohort and recognised primary and secondary students who have been awarded leadership positions and opportunities for this year.

The Commencement Assembly was a wonderful celebratory occasion, and it was terrific to see so many parents and grandparents in attendance.

The Assembly also afforded me the opportunity, on behalf of the Board, to share further information regarding two very significant and exciting developments that position our school strongly for the future.

The past fortnight has been one of the most exciting periods in our school’s history as we announced the purchase of an 84-acre property - Gunbower Estate.  A second campus of Moama Anglican Grammar. On behalf of our Board and entire school community, I would like to express my sincere thanks, and our immense gratitude, to Mr Geoff and Mrs Alex Kent. Their shared vision and generosity made the purchase of Gunbower Estate possible through a significant donation in partnership with the G&A Kent Charitable Trust.

Another exciting announcement for 2024 and Beyond is Board approval to establish a concept design for the development of a Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium at our Kirchhofer Street site. This is of the highest priority and will significantly enhance student experience by providing access to a large, multi-court, all weather indoor facility that can be used for Physical Education, Sport, Music, Theatre, Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular activities, in addition to comfortably accommodating the whole school community in assemblies.

We will keep our community updated as we progress the development of Gunbower Estate and the concept design for the Multi-Purpose Stadium.

In 2024 we commence the year with a revised senior leadership structure. In simple terms, we now have two Deputy Principals. I take this opportunity to introduce and welcome our Deputy Principal – Head of Secondary School, Mr Frazer.

Mr Frazer joins us from Yarra Valley Grammar, a large, Kindergarten – 12, Anglican co-educational school located in the South-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. He brings with him a wealth of senior leadership experience. Mr Frazer, his wife and their three children, relocated from Melbourne to Moama in January and on behalf of our school I extend them all a warm welcome as they join our community.

I am also pleased to share that our Head of Primary, Mrs Deller, has been promoted to the position of Deputy Principal – Head of Primary. Please join me in wishing Mr Frazer and Mrs Deller the best of luck in their new roles.

Mr Scott Downward
