NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual national assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9. All students in these year levels are expected to participate in tests in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. NAPLAN is the measure through which governments, education authorities, schools, teachers and parents can determine whether or not young Australians have the literacy and numeracy skills that provide the critical foundation for other learning and for their productive and rewarding participation in the community.
NAPLAN tests are scheduled for week 7 and 8 in Term 1 in 2024. The Year 3 Writing test is paper based the other tests are all online. Our students will use their Chromebooks and complete the tests in their classrooms wearing headphones. Classroom teachers will be administering the tests and will go through all instructions beforehand.
Parents wishing to have their child exempt from NAPLAN testing will need to complete the ‘Parent/Carer consent for exemption and withdrawal’ form by 23 February 2024. Parent/carer consent for disability adjustments forms also need to be completed by 23 February 2024. Please contact the relevant staff member if you have any questions or concerns regarding any of the disability adjustments for NAPLAN.

BUS TRAVEL
NSW SCHOOL DRIVE SUBSIDY FOR NSW COUNTRY BUS TRAVELLERS
Are you a NSW country bus family and do you drive to your bus stop? You may be eligible for NSW School Drive Subsidy.
How do I apply for SDS?
Applying for the School Drive Subsidy can be done easily online at transportnsw.info/tickets-opal/ticket-eligibility-concessions/school-student-travel/apply-for-school-drive-subsidy
What information do I need to provide to complete an SDS application?
When completing an SDS application, you must complete the form online.
To complete your application you will need:
• details of your school journey (driving all your eligible students) on the application form
• a valid email address as we will notify you by email of the outcome of your application
• your bank account details
Applications must be made by a parent or legal guardian (even if the student is aged 16 years or over).
Note: If additional information needs to accompany the application the documents should be prepared or scanned before starting the online application.
What are the eligibility guidelines/criteria for SDS?
There are a number of eligibility criteria a student must meet to be eligible for SDS, including age, residential address, accessibility of other transport service options and distance from residence to school or transport pick up point.
For the full eligibility guidelines, please visit transportnsw.info/sds-terms
What are the subsidy rates under SDS and how are they calculated?
School Drive Subsidy Payments are calculated based on:
- the distance of your approved one-way daily school journey in kilometres for all your eligible students, multiplied by
- the School Drive Subsidy daily rate per kilometre, multiplied by
- the number of days the student attends the school during the semester (January to June or July to December).
Note: The per kilometre rate is based on a return journey being made each day. If the journey is only made one-way per day, then the per kilometre rate will be halved.
The current School Drive Subsidy daily rate is $0.72 per kilometre for travel by car, or $0.36 per kilometre for travel by motorcycle or boat. This rate is adjusted every year.
COUNTRY VICTORIA SCHOOL BUS PROGRAM CONVEYANCE ALLOWANCE
School Bus Program Applications for Permission to Travel (Vic Country) should be submitted to the Moama Anglican Grammar office. Unless there are changes of address, applications remain current for the extent of school enrolment.
Some families are also eligible for Private Vehicle (Car) Conveyance Allowance (Vic) if they must travel more than 4.8km from home to their nearest country bus stop; contact School office for application form.
ECHUCA TOWNSHIP APPLICATION FOR FREE BUS TRAVEL - Subject to eligibility criteria
Many families will have received an email relating to Echuca-Moama Transit bus travel and have already responded accordingly.
If you didn’t receive an email, but believe you may be eligible to apply - read on!
Applying for a Victorian Student Pass (VSP) is optional. Please note that all students may travel on the Echuca Moama Transit services as it is a public transport service. However, students who do not hold a Victorian Student Pass are required to pay the usual student concession fares:
$1.40 per trip;
$2.80 per day ticket (collected from driver in morning and shown again in the afternoon);
$13.10 per weekly ticket (collected from driver and shown each trip for that week)
$720.00 per year
Timetable and stop information may be obtained from Echuca Moama Transit – 03 5484 1129.
Eligible students may apply for a Victorian Student Pass (VSP) which consists of a myki card linked to a PTV endorsed school Student ID card. This myki may be used to access free public transport in Echuca-Moama and elsewhere in Victoria. Both cards should be readily shown to drivers each time the student travels on Echuca Moama Transit services.
To proceed:
- Please verify your distance from home to school by using Google Maps or similar, before lodging your application, as only Echuca township students who reside more than 4.8 kilometres from home to our school are eligible to apply for a Victorian Student Pass (VSP). The full conveyance allowance policy document, including eligibility criteria, may be viewed on the Victorian Education website.
- If eligible, please complete, sign and return the mandatory Department of Education and Training (Vic) Conveyance Allowance Application-Private Bus form. Please note: on page 4 of the application there is a section for the parent/guardian to sign over the conveyance payment to the school in order for the school to purchase the VSP from Public Transport Victoria on behalf of the students.
- Please note that families of students who apply for a VSP will be invoiced a $15 processing fee per application by the School.
- It is important to return fully completed applications to the school byMonday 5 February 2024 to allow time for passes to be processed by and collected from the Bendigo Hub of Public Transport Victoria before 2023 cards / letters expire on 29 February 2024.
Some students who received VPS’s in 2019 or earlier and who live less than the minimum home to school distance of 4.8km may have an arrangement with the Department of Education. These students may continue to receive the allowance until they exit Moama Anglican Grammar. However, all new applications must comply with the conveyance allowance policy regardless of whether they have a sibling receiving the allowance.
Students who have their 2023 VSP should continue to show it to the drivers until new 2024 cards are issued. New applicants will be issued an endorsed letter to show their bus driver, until cards are issued by PTV.
If you have any questions in relation to this, please contact the School office – 03 5480 5900.
