YEAR 10-12 SCHOOLNEWS

Year 10/11 Outdoor Recreation
In Week 5 (Wednesday 5th November), the Year 10 and 11 Outdoor Recreation students enjoyed an exciting and rewarding excursion to Urban Surf in Melbourne. This experience provided a fantastic opportunity for students to further develop and refine their surfing skills in a safe and supportive environment. Many students showed great improvement throughout the session, building confidence in the water while learning about surf safety, technique, and ocean awareness.
Their behaviour and attitude throughout the day were very good, with every student demonstrating respect, teamwork, and a willingness to challenge themselves. The group represented Western Heights College exceptionally well, showing maturity, enthusiasm, and a positive approach to learning outside the classroom.
The day was filled with smiles, teamwork, and plenty of waves as students embraced the chance to push beyond their comfort zones. It was a fantastic experience that strengthened their practical skills and highlighted the value of outdoor learning and recreation.
Thanks,
Mr Parker
Year 10 Formal
The Year 10 Formal was a fantastic celebration of the students’ achievements and growth throughout the year. Held Friday night (7th November), the event saw everyone arrive dressed to impress, with students looking stylish, confident, and ready to enjoy the night. The atmosphere was full of excitement, laughter, and genuine connection as students took the opportunity to celebrate together.
Their excellent behaviour and respectful attitude throughout the evening were a credit to themselves. Staff were incredibly proud of how well the students represented the school, showing maturity, kindness, and a strong sense of community. From the music and dancing to the photos, the night was filled with memorable moments and positive energy.
It was wonderful to see students relax, have fun, and celebrate in such a respectful and inclusive way — a truly great night was had by all.
Thanks,
Year 10 team
