Since the last OVAtions issue, the College has moved into the mid-year break. This is an opportunity for students and staff to take a well-earned break and recharge, ready for the second half of the year.
I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet with members of the School and be regularly appraised of the progress of the School and the achievements of the students. I am confident that the School’s progress is being well planned and executed.
Importantly, the School has been open to constructive suggestions and engagement from the broader community, including the Old Virgilians. The future of the School is exceptionally positive at a time when there has been significant investment in time and resources in guiding the College and its community to a K-12 offering for students.
Development of Alumni Database and OVA membership
The College has committed resources to commencing this project and OVA is thankful for the input from the College Information Technology team in assessing the various options and providing recommendations. After due diligence, stakeholder consultation and customer referees, we are expecting to select the appropriate technology and commence uploading all student details later this month.
It is intended that the Alumni database will provide a record of all students who have attended the College over its history and separately identify all Old Virgilian members. This is a significant project of the college that OVA is pleased to support.
Recruitment of Community Engagement and Development Officer
The OVA has now advertised for a Community Engagement and Development Officer, funded by the OVA to collaborate with members and the community alongside the College in advancing the contributions of Old Virgilians to the College Community. Expressions of interest close later this month (July 2025). OVA would be interested if any former teacher or student at the College may be interested. The position is included on the College website and advertised via SEEK.
