Australian STEM Video Game Challenge
Over the past two terms, students from years 4-6 were invited to participate in the Australian STEM Video Game Challenge. A competition for students to use their coding skills to create a video game to match this year's theme of ‘Journey’. Our school had two teams submit a game in this year's challenge.
Victoria R and Thomas B in Year 4 created their game ‘A Cat’s Journey’ where a cat who is lost must complete a number of challenges to find its way home.
The boys in Year 6 (Luca, Liam, Fintan, Orin and Thomas) created a game called ‘Time Travel Trouble RPG’ which took the character through various time periods to collect ancient relics and bring them back to the present day, facing challenges along the way.
Both teams were successful in making it through qualifying and into the second round of judging. Unfortunately, our teams did not make it to the final round, although they both received some amazing feedback for their efforts.
Congratulations to all the students for their creativity, persistence and efforts throughout this challenge, you should be very proud of yourselves!
