Harmony Day

Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School came alive with colour, connection and celebration as we marked Harmony Day, recognising and honouring the rich and diverse cultural community that makes our school so special.
The day began with a vibrant parade, where students proudly represented their family heritage. Dressed in cultural clothing or wearing orange—the colour of Harmony—our students celebrated both their unique identities and the unity we share as a school community. It was a joyful and powerful way to begin a day centred on inclusion, respect and belonging.
Following the parade, students participated in a Read-A-Round, where guest readers shared stories that explored themes of diversity, kindness and acceptance. These meaningful moments encouraged students to see the world through different perspectives and to appreciate the beauty in our differences.
After recess, students became risktakers as they enjoyed “Drinks of the World,” tasting a variety of beverages inspired by cultures from across the globe. This hands-on experience sparked curiosity and conversation, allowing students to engage with culture in a fun and memorable way.
The celebrations continued with a craft activity with our Buddy classes, strengthening connections across year levels while reflecting on the importance of harmony and friendship.
Students then enjoyed a special Harmony Day-inspired Golden Time, with activities that embraced culture, collaboration and joy—such as playing traditional games from different countries, including Bocce and Capture the Flag, and learning dances from around the world, all of which encouraged teamwork, built connections and brought plenty of energy and laughter to the afternoon.
Celebrating Harmony Day is powerful way to live out the International Baccalaureate’s mission—encouraging students to help create a more peaceful and inclusive world through understanding, respect and action.
We extend our sincere thanks to the parents and staff members who contributed their time, energy and enthusiasm to make this day so memorable. Harmony Day at Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School was a beautiful reminder that together, we are stronger, richer and more connected.
