Eclipse House News

Term Two has started much as expected in Eclipse, with the football, soccer, and hockey seasons all underway. The house is a busy place during the week, with games, training, and leave keeping the boys well occupied. It has also been really nice to welcome Flynn Huntley to Eclipse House at the start of Term Two. Flynn has made an excellent start to his time in boarding, which is a credit to him, his peers who have helped show him the ropes, and of course the fantastic supervisors we are fortunate to have in Eclipse.

There was a mixed bag of sporting results over the weekend, with some close football matches, a couple of strong wins for the hockey teams, and a draw in the Wednesday night soccer. Unfortunately, the weekend was also marked by a few injuries to boys in the house. Both Cameron Hooper and Matthew Cant suffered early‑season knee injuries, and Mr Bryce McLean also sustained a knee injury during his highly anticipated and much‑talked‑about return to football.

Over the Term One holiday break, sand and a clay‑based gravel mix were delivered to the grassed area over the winter creek opposite Eclipse. This will be shaped into a bike area for senior students to use. Time is always the challenge, but we are hoping to have this up and running towards the end of this term or the beginning of Term Three.

It is also exciting to see that we are close to the unrestricted burning period, which means we should soon be able to have the fire pit back in action. We are looking forward to incorporating this into some relaxed evening suppers, where Eclipse House can host Breaksea and Endeavour for hot chocolate, biscuits, music, and games. It is always a nice event and a great opportunity for the boarding community to come together.
