A Big Start to Term Two!

Term Two has started with plenty of energy and activity. From camps and carnivals to performances and celebrations, our students have been making the most of every opportunity.

Our Year Eleven Outdoor Education students kicked off the term with their snorkeling camp at Rottnest Island, enjoying both the challenge and beauty of the marine environment. Some of our Year Ten students also completed their SCUBA course during Week One, gaining valuable new skills and experiences.

Week Two saw students enthusiastically participating in the Volleyball Carnival, showing great teamwork, spirit, and determination throughout the event.

Breaksea certainly got into the spirit of Mokare Day with the 'Dress as a Decade' theme. I may be biased, but I think the Breaksea girls won best dressed! I’m sure after looking at the photos, you’ll agree, the creativity and enthusiasm on display was incredible.

We were also incredibly proud to see Anne Fitz Gibbon represent the school at the ANZAC Day Parade as part of the pipe band. Esther Barrett-Lennard also performed beautifully and represented Camfield in the Running of the Flags ceremony.

Several Year Eleven students attended a range of camps and enrichment opportunities this term, including Art Camp, Music Camp, and the Geography and Biology Camp. As you can see, there has been lots of movement coming and going from the house, with students embracing every opportunity available to them.

We also want to wish the very best of luck to our three women’s football players competing in their Grand Final this weekend. Congratulations and good luck to Esteanne Newfield, Fenella O’Neill, and Isla Patterson, we’re all cheering you on!

With assessments and exams approaching, I have been speaking with the girls about how to best prepare for the upcoming busy period. Students have been provided with a study guide to assist them in creating their own personalised study plans. We also discussed effective time management strategies and study techniques to help them feel organised and confident.

Copies of the study guide are available in the Breaksea office. Students who are unsure how to use their prep time are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to develop productive study habits and establish their schedules.

We highly encourage students to attend ACCA’s, where subject teachers are available after school to provide tutoring and additional academic support. During prep time, we will also have Maths, HASS, PE Studies, and Science teachers working with boarders to offer extra assistance and guidance.

Of course, it hasn’t all been hard work! We recently celebrated the birthdays of Maddison Fidler, Stella Altham, and Milan Muller with the crowd-favourite ice cream station, always a hit with the girls!

We are now looking forward to National Boarding Week next week, with lots of exciting activities and events planned. It has been a fantastic start to the term. Let’s keep the momentum going. It’s going to be a big one!
